BALUTI

BALUTI stands for Batang Laging Umiiwas sa Tiyak na Impeksyon (Protect the Child from Infection). It is a youth-led organization working in the community and in schools. We target MARCY (Most At Risk Children and Young People) including Gang members, MSM, IDU's, Children and youth in Prostitution.

Established since 2003 composed of current and former peer educators who once belonged to the most at risk group of Gang Leaders, Multiple Sexual partners, Irresponsible Sexual Behaviors and Drugs users. Their aim is to address the problems of adolescents who are at risk for early sexual debut, teen-age pregnancy, risky sexual practices, sexually transmitted infections, HIV and AIDS. We are using the Give me 5 approach which is very effective in realizing their goal of not only increasing awareness on STD and HIV/AIDS but also in creating positive change in behaviors among 10-24 year old adolescents and young people at RISK by delivering messages on Child’s Rights, Life Skills, Safer Sex, prevention of Early Pregnancy, STD, HIV/AIDS and VCT. Through various innovative strategies such as peer education, film showing on HIV/AIDS using Power of You Video, one on one counseling, providing free condoms, HIV testing with counseling, Free access on health services and providing community support for HIV and AIDS.

BALUTI Group, As a model of of positive behavior, creating a society with healthy, educated and resposible adolescent by providing quality sexual and reproductive health services.

Vision:

The BALUTI core group, as a model of positive behavior, envisions a society with responsible and healthy adolescents. It aims to enhance skills and provide accurate knowledge that will help members to develop the positive attitudes necessary in educating young people about the importance of safe sex. Such support and effective promotions will significantly contribute to the improvement of the lifestyle of the community and the fulfillment of BALUTI’s ideal.

Goal:

To Create a positive behavioural change for children and young people at risk for Early Sexual Debut, Teen-age Pregnancy, Substance Abuse, Unsafe Abortions, Sexually Transmitted Infections, and HIV/AIDS.
